Newland Communities plans the master planned community of Waterset North to start new home construction in 2012.

According to the Newland Communities:

"Our vision for Waterset is for it to become a real town, one that starts with a sense of arrival, of coming home, with tree-lined streets and meaningful landmarks distinguishing the way. A community that features special gathering places where one can go at any given time and see familiar faces. Places of recreation, culture, education, commerce, and entertainment—all serving as ports of entry for residents, newcomers, and visitors.  This is our new real town, a place that celebrates a rich, diverse community life. A place called Waterset. With close proximity to Interstate 75, Waterset is located about 17 miles south of downtown Tampa. As part of the Apollo Beach community, Waterset is close to shopping, restaurants and entertainment.

Waterset will have approximately 4,500 single and multi-family homes. Waterset is located directly off Big Bend Road, one-half mile west of the I-75 Apollo Beach/Big Bend exit 246.  Diverse architectural styles to be featured include American Colonial, Craftsman, Low Country, Cracker, Folk Victorian and Mediterranean.  The homes and amenities  are  planned  to be certified green by meeting the requirements of the Florida Green Building Coalition."
